Wireless Socs: What’re Differences between QCA 9880 and QCA9882?

QCA9880 and QCA9882 are both wireless network chipsets produced by Qualcomm Atheros, a subsidiary of Qualcomm. While they share some similarities, there are also several key differences between the two.
1. Wireless Standard:
The QCA9880 supports the 802.11ac standard and is capable of delivering wireless speeds of up to 1.3Gbps. The QCA9882, on the other hand, supports the newer 802.11ac Wave 2 standard, which allows for faster wireless speeds of up to 1.7Gbps.
2. Antenna Configuration:
The QCA9880 supports 3x3 MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) antenna configuration, which means it can support three spatial streams. The QCA9882, on the other hand, supports 2x2 MIMO antenna configuration, which means it can support two spatial streams.
3. Frequency Band:
Both chipsets support the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands. However, the QCA9880 also supports the 4.9GHz frequency band, which is primarily used for public safety applications.
4. Power Consumption:
The QCA9882 is designed to be more power-efficient than the QCA9880, which means it can consume less power while still delivering the same level of performance. This makes it a better choice for battery-powered devices such as smartphones and tablets.
5. Integration:
The QCA9882 is designed to be integrated with other Qualcomm chipsets, making it easier for manufacturers to incorporate it into their products. The QCA9880, on the other hand, is a standalone chipset that requires additional components to be integrated into a product.
In summary, the QCA9882 offers faster wireless speeds, is more power-efficient, and is easier to integrate into products.
